On this 11-hour program, you’ll approach Venice in a way that takes you to the city center avoiding long walks and time waiting for transfers to St. Mark’s Square.
Cross the Sile, a river that runs from its source near Treviso into the sea at the lighthouse end of Jesolo. The first village you’ll come to is Cavallino, which mean little horse in English. It was so named because of the horses that were bred here in the distant past.
Continue on a drive through a series of small villages, with the Adriatic Sea on your left and the Venetian Lagoon on your right.
After around 10 miles arrive at the end of this short peninsula and leave the coach to begin the second part of your tour program.
Enjoy a 30-minute scenic cruise across the Venice Lagoon, taking in views of some of the most important islands such as Lido, Venice’s and the site of the Venice Film Festival. Also, see the islands of St. Andrea and St. George, which is right in front of St. Mark’s Square.
The landing stage is only a 10-minute walk from St. Mark’s Square, and once there you begin your walking tour of the central area with commentary by your city guide and a visit to the world-famous St. Mark’s Basilica.
You can then take an optional walk with your guide to the shopping and commercial area known as Rialto to see the well-known bridge and the traditional market.
There will be time to admire the sunset on the lagoon and to see Venice in an even more romantic atmosphere.
